Making next week's comic just a recipe would have been kind of a gyp, so:
Soak the corn, husks still on, in a pot of water. If you can't submerge them completely, make sure the tassle side is down. Let them soak for 15 to 20 minutes.
While you're waiting, get the grill hot. You'll have to start sooner than this if you're using a charcoal grill, but if you're using a gas grill, just crank it to medium-high.
Once the corn is soaked, throw it on the grill, turning occasionally.
Keep them on, turning occasionally, for about half an hour. The husks will burn, but don't worry. The water will steam the corn inside the husk perfectly.
For best results, buy your corn from a man selling it along the side of the road from back of a pickup truck.

Books and things.

I'm already getting feedback from people. I'm quite happy that the books are getting out so fast and that their owners are quite happy with them. Makes the work put into the buggers worth it. Thank you.
ALSO! We'll be hanging out in SF this weekend for a convention called AoD. We'll be loafing about chatting and such. But as a note, if you can't get my gaze to break from my psp, it's not because I loath humanity and resent you for approaching me. It's just that I'm really enjoying this Phantasy Star demo.

I've seriously listened to this a couple dozen times over the last three days.
If you can't tell, by the big old banner above, I'm excited to say that my art book is finally on sale at our shop. I really hope it's well received as it will give me reason to make more books like this. I finished it last October but due to complications it hasn't been available till now.
I broke the book up by characters and themes, so you'll find a lot of content on characters such as Malakym and Risu. Good news if you like cat girls and ninjas. I also tried to include as much concept and rough art as I could so that you not only see the stuff from our old works but the skeleton work that went in to making them, as well.
The works go from as early as year one Mac Hall to comics not three months ago. So it really stretches the gambit. There's even some of my concept art from Whirled in there. I worked rather hard on getting this book together, given it my first attempt at such a thing. If you you get a hold of one, let me know what you think.
There's also a few other new things in the store, so take a look. If you enjoy our work, the best way to support us is just a click through that store banner.

We are going to Animation on Display in San Francisco.

The convention is Feb. 14-15. It's small, but it's right in the city, so please, come by and say hi.
I think this process of painting was a little more true to my model-texturing style from college. Certainly came out well. The back drop could be better, but that wasn't the focus of this exercise.
Also, GNOMES!

I got married Saturday.

Well look at that.
I vaguely remember talking to people and possibly a priest. There was certainly a cake involved somewhere along the way. And at some point this ring showed up... hmmm.

Scott C., art director of Psychonauts and Brütal Legend, as well as webcomics guy. A sample:
Scott: I was background artist. Officially.
Matt: And unofficially?
Scott: Unofficially, I was a good bro.
P.S. Kickin' it in Ohio otherwise, doin' pretty well. Just gotta write a speech and all for the wedding.

Topatoco has gift certificates up and running. Good for last minute gifts, you know?
Theoretically the giftee could spend it on our stuff, but every time we load up the pages of Topatoco's other clients, we just groan and go "Those guys are kicking our asses.

Not my best comic. I've been relying on the 'cute' style too much lately, but I've lacked the inspiration to break from it seems.
A few readers have been voicing their concern that I haven't been posting rants lately. My apologies. Truth is, a lot has been on my plate and my energy low. I continue to strive to get a certain project out into your hands and I hope that will wrap up soon.
However, what's even more pressing to me is that very soon, exactly 6 months since I asked her the question, Jessica and I will be married. Happily it seems everything is coming together and all that's left to worry about is making sure everyone gets there safely. I'm really excited, to be put simply and it's been on my mind perpetually. I can only imagine the hours I've spent on the phone making arrangements to Ohio with friends and family, and Jes's phone time probably doubles mine.
See, currently, we live and work in San Francisco, as been seen in the strip. However, the wedding is in Ohio, our home state. Makes things a little harder to assemble.
What this means to you, the readers, though, is that I'm going to have very little time to update in the two weeks I'm out of town. I'm trying to get something done ahead of time so you can at least see a fresh post each week, but I've learned these last 9 years, never to promise anything.
Thank you to for all your emails and support. And thank you for letting me share with you this happy time in our lives.
