I've got to step up for comics 101-200, though.

Well, according to my comic file labellings, this is comic #100. Not the most amazing mark on the comic wagon trail, hell there's comics out there in the thousands, but to me, every 50 just means, that we've made it, with this new comic, through another year with out getting sick of it.

Looking back through the archive, it makes me happy to see so many different rendering styles for the comic over the last year. I hope that Matt feels his writing has been flexible as well for this run. After all the comic really serves as a way for the both of us to keep up skills we might not work out in our day jobs.

Also, if you check out the banner above you'll see we're starting to gear up for the winter sales. These outerwear are just the first of what we have planned over the next two months. I hope you dig our offerings and want to support our efforts with a purchase. Check it, our first hoodie!

In return, here is a video of a cat, the accepted currency of the Internet.

Whenever there's a problem too complex for me to get my head around, I look for some stick figure comics to lay it out for me.

On Texturing...
September 16, 2008, 05:27 EST

I know we have a few Blizzard readers that visit the site, so I thought that if I mention this here, it might get the the right person.

To: The artist who did the starting Death Knight armor.
Subject: Great work

I personally love texture work that fakes lighting and relief. I don't mean all that normal-map nonsense you see on current gen hardware. I mean texture work that is a single defuse pass that makes you think there's more to the model than just its silhouette.

With that, I just wanted to say that I really like the texturing done on the starting two sets of armor Death Knights posses during the opening quests. Not because they're 'grimdark' or whatever, but because I find your ability to convey such great detail and texture relief on the body suit like mesh that is the player characters wonderful, and the highlights on the shoulders are top notch. Great work all around.

I always feel obligated to be very accurate when it comes to representing art from these games in my comics. Not sure if it's obsession of details or just a personal study of the style.

I guess this one needs a little explanation.

If you play World of Warcraft, you know that the Scourge are the swarms of undead. You've probably heard that some of their soldiers, the Death Knights, are defecting and becoming a playable class in the new expansion.

You may not know that in the latest beta versions, the new Death Knights get sent to the respective capitals of Orgrimmar and Stormwind to introduce themselves as part of the starting quests. There, they're pelted with rotten fruits and insults from the populace.

Apparently in one of the beta versions, a bug carried this behavior over to some other characters.

We just felt like he might have an interesting story.

Oh, and this is a crab pot.

8 Bit Peoples: Anamanaguchi
September 9, 2008, 13:15 EST

Random link time:

Been listening to these guys in my play list a lot lately. I particularly like 'Helix Nebula'. Reminds me of a Megaman song if only for the jump noise they use now and again.

There's plenty of other music on 8bitpeoples, I just haven't gone through it all yet. So far these guys are my favorite.

Comic's done.

Not sure any one will find my S4 musing funny in this comic, but at least it doesn't look half bad.

I frequent the game on my lunch breaks under the incredibly original name, Cherub.

Also, I put together a quick wallpaper of the first panel:
Wallpaper 1920x1200
Wallpaper 1024x768

Currently drawing the comic

Gonna get some sleep then wrap up over the course of the day.

It's a color comic, as you can see, using camera angles I'm not very adept at drawing, but I'm giving it a go.

Super bonus August interview!

James Urbaniak, voice of Dr. Venture and Dr. Venture.

This is the first time in the history of the Internet that someone has typed the sentence "It seemed like a good idea at the time, but before I knew it, a pedophile was getting my replacement offspring shot full of holes/I'd chosen a relatively untried governor from Alaska as a running mate."

My laptop's monitor seems to be crapping out on me. There's now a band of color on the right side that won't go away. I was really hoping I could squeeze a few more years out of this thing... I wonder how expensive replacing an XPS monitor is...
