The Six Sides of Awesome

Sorry for the two week down time. I’ve had a lot to take care of. That vacation I have scheduled at the end of the month is looking better and better.

So yeah, check it, the first wave of our winter season merch is up. Not the standard black tee-shirts which seems to be a gamble in this field, but I stand behind them. I particularly like the Cherabim shirt… I’m kinda biased though.

Also new, is our chat page. Well, about as new as 1996.

Had a Halloween party at the office last week. Good times. As you can see in Matt’s rant. I was the Cube. I ripped the model out of the game with a directx ripper, then rebuild the model in Maya. (The original model is almost 5k!) Printed it out, Jes cut it apart, then I pasted it together. The front, larger heart is a see-through fabric. The results, pure awesome.

I made my own pattern because the ones I’ve found thus far where…well… terrible. I’ll post my own later. I’m that nice.

Oh for shit’s sake.

Is it that unclear? The girls are lingerie shopping and making Ian guess as to whether each article is a ‘Top’ or ‘Bottom’.

Head Cubed

So, as shown in the shots from the Threerings halloween party, I created a paper helmet of the Companion Cube. The cube (corner pads excluded) ends up being roughly 9″ tall. The front heart disk is larger than the other sides for the visor. I cut out the heart and stretched a thin pink cloth behind the paper. This created a pink, one way hole for me to peer from and creep the hell out of Matt every time I’d tilt my cube head at him.

The cube now rests on my desk below various Disgaea figures. Purpose served. Feel free to use this pattern for your own nefarious purposes. It’s kind of hard to follow, so build at your own risk. (And please don’t ask for directions. I’d like to not think about papercraft again for a while.) The images are labeled with a “_x4″ or “_x1″. This is the amount of times you’ll need to print each file to complete the cube.

Next time, in Ian’s rant; Another awesome french, digital artist that he’s completely jealous of.

Store stuff

We’re clearing out our Slackers shirts in the store. So if you ever wanted a rotting bear carcass on your chest, best order before Nov. 9.

Another Artist Link.

And now, another random artist that I’m jealous of. (as a note, most of this guy’s work is Not Work Safe.)

Arthur de Pins Online

Again, a French artist, making me wish I didn’t fail that class in high school so that I might be able to read some of this stuff. But perhaps it’s for the better. What I like about this particular artist is that it reminds me of the later Mac Hall art style only taken even further. In both cute/chibi and stylized realism it takes the art and goes running with it.

I like how the cute characters are still perceivable as mature in nature. Unlike my characters which always looked like they were Muppet Babies.
